University Park, Pa. — No. 8 Penn State was without standout forward Charlie Cerrato for their sweep against Notre Dame last weekend, but head coach Guy Gadowsky was not optimistic on Cerrato’s return following Tuesday’s media availability.
Gadowsky labeled Cerrato ‘doubtful’ for Penn State’s clash with No. 5 Wisconsin this weekend at the Kohl Center.
“I’m not 100% confident in giving you an update, but (Cerrato is) doubtful for this weekend,” Gadowsky said.
Gadowsky also provided health status of multiple players, and he provided clarity during his press conference. Forward Shea Van Olm along with defensemen Casey Aman and Mac Gadwosky, are all considered day-to-day.
Cerrato’s potential return would be a significant boost for Penn State. He centers the dangerous “B-T-B” line alongside Matt DiMarsico and JJ Wiebusch, one of the most productive units in the nation, presently averaging 3.41 points per game during the 2025-26 hockey season.
Cerrato at the time of his injury led the Nittany Lions in assists (18) and points (24) and in the Top 20 nationally in faceoffs won (218), posting a 59.1% success rate at the dot.
Since his injury forward Reese Laubach has centered the line with DiMarsico and Wiebusch.
