On Saturday, Penn State received a commitment from 6-foot-7 Iowa State tight end Benjamin Brahmer to rejoin head coach Matt Campbell and offensive coordinator Taylor Mouser. Only minutes later, Penn State’s highest-ranked tight end recruit reportedly entered the transfer portal.
According to Hayes Fawcett of On3, former five-star tight end prospect Andrew Olesh will explore other opportunities and is planning to put his name in the portal. Olesh was On3’s No. 1 tight end in the class of 2025.
A graduate of Pennsylvania power Southern Lehigh High School, the 6-foot-5 tight end redshirted in 2025 and didn’t see the field.
Olesh flipped from Michigan before signing and chose Penn State over the Wolverines, Notre Dame, Florida, and Oregon. He has four years of eligibility.
Olesh caught 75 passes for 1,105 yards and 10 touchdowns during his senior season and was expected to be the next in a long line of great tight ends to play at Penn State. The Nittany Lions have produced Tyler Warren, Brenton Strange, Theo Johnson, Pat Freiermuth, and Mike Gesicki as reliable NFL targets over the last 10 years.
With the addition of Brahmer and Penn State retaining emerging redshirt sophomore Andrew Rappleyea, there isn’t much room for Olesh to emerge as a starter. Sophomore tight end Luke Reynolds also entered the portal this week and senior Khalil Dinkins declared for the draft.
The transfer portal opened on January 2 and remains open for a 15-day window until January 16.
