Earning All-American recognition is one of the most prestigious honors in college football. Since 1944, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) has selected an annual All-American team and serves as one of the NCAA’s five official selectors — along with the Associated Press (AP), American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), Walter Camp, and The Sporting News — used to determine Consensus and Unanimous All-America status.
Nittany Sports Now’s Kyle Golik, an FWAA member, has released his 2025 defensive and special teams selections, highlighting some of the nation’s most impactful and consistent performers.
This year’s group features a strong presence from Ohio State and Georgia, programs whose defensive units helped define the 2025 season. The selections span emerging stars, veteran anchors, and dynamic specialists each playing a crucial role in their team’s success and earning recognition among the nation’s best.
