In the last week, it has been teased by various college football analysts that Penn State athletic director Pat Kraft had a major candidate but he wasn’t willing to release the name because of the distractions it may cause, including that community rallying to save him.
BYU head coach Kalani Sitake seems to fit that description.
Sitake, who is in his 10th season leading his alma mater, has expressed frustrations of needing more resources to be more competitive in the Big XII, a conference BYU joined in 2023.
After consecutive 11-win seasons and guiding the Cougars to their first Big XII Conference Championship appearance where they will face Texas Tech on Saturday, it seems Sitake is seeking respect that Penn State is willing to deliver.
As the news broke, the fears Kraft were realized as the BYU community began to rally for Sitake.
Crumbl Cookie CEO and co-founder Jason McGowan took to X announcing it is time for him to get involved.
“Some people are not replaceable. Sounds like it is time for me to get off the sidelines and get to work.”
McGowan posted another X post beginning to rally the BYU community asking what Sitake means to them and it is time to show him some gratitude for what he has accomplished.
While McGowan is a Michigan State alum, he became an ardent supporter of BYU because his wife pursued her PhD at BYU.
His support has ranged from donations to the school and even paying fines for students rushing the field.
McGowan has a personal net worth estimated to be around $500 million, meanwhile Crumbl Cookie has a valuation of around $2 billion.
