In a time when Penn State sports fans need good news, the wrestling program has delivered.
Landon Sidun, a WPIAL star from Norwin High School who is the No. 2 overall prospect in the Class of 2027 per FloWrestling, has committed to Penn State, per his head coach Kyle Martin.
Sidun is the second prospect to commit to Penn State in the ‘27 cycle, joining Gavin Mangano (No. 17).
This is welcome news for fans of the wrestling and football programs. The football team is coming off an embarrassing loss to UCLA. The wrestling program just lost out on Bo Bassett and Melvin Miller (the No. 1 Class of 2026 prospect) to Virginia Tech.
Sidun burst onto the scene as a true freshman, going 42-2 and winning the state title at 114 pounds.
He almost certainly would have won another state title this past season but suffered a broken hand in February that cost him a chance to repeat.
Still, Sidun is 72-2 overall in high school, and as a result, Penn State wrestling, Iowa and Oklahoma State– led by PSU legend David Taylor– are among those after him.
