Senior running back Kaytron Allen continues his climb up Penn State’s all-time rushing leaderboard, passing three Nittany Lion legends to move into fourth place.
During the third quarter, on Penn State’s second series Allen’s two-yard gain against Northwestern pushed his total for the day to 68 rushing yards.
Allen needed 66 to pass Curtis Enis (3,256 yards), Blair Thomas (3,301), and Tony Hunt (3,320).
Allen’s rise began with an impressive freshman season in 2022, when he and Nick Singleton made history as the first true freshman duo in Big Ten history to each rush for over 700 yards. Singleton became the third freshman in Penn State history to surpass 1,000 yards (1,061), while Allen added 867.
Together, Allen and Singleton have etched their names in program lore. They are just the second set of Penn State teammates to each record 2,000 career rushing yards, joining Lydell Mitchell (2,934) and Franco Harris (2,002) from 1969–71. Now, they’ve gone a step further—becoming the first duo in Penn State history to each surpass 3,000 career rushing yards.
During his junior campaign, Allen posted career highs in attempts (220), yards (1,108), and yards from scrimmage (1,261), earning All–Big Ten honorable mention recognition from the media.
Next on Allen’s list is Curt Warner, who ranks third all-time with 3,398 rushing yards from 1979–82.
