Former Penn State wide receiver Julian Fleming is facing felony charges following the death of his girlfriend Alyssa Boyd, aged 23 of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, during an ATV accident in Bradford County.
The charges brought against Fleming include felony counts of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, homicide by vehicle, aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence and aggravated assault by vehicle.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, Boyd was killed when an ATV being operated by Fleming collided with a deer on Painter Lick Lane in Columbia Township on May 23.
Neither Fleming or Boyd were wearing any safety equipment, where Boyd was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fleming was rushed to Guthrie Troy Hospital where he was able to recover from the injuries from the accident.
After Boyd’s death, Fleming took to Instagram paying tribute to her saying not a day will go bye without her on his mind.
According to the docket, Fleming’s representation is attorney David Stephen Bahuriak Jr., of The Bahuriak Law Group based in Philadelphia.
Fleming had a heralded prep career out of Southern Columbia (Catawissa, Pennsylvania) where he set PIAA state records with 4,462 receiving yards and 62 receiving yards.
This garnered Fleming five-star status across all major recruiting platforms, even being named the top overall recruit by ESPN for the Class of 2020.
Fleming would select Ohio State over Penn State originally, where things didn’t come to fruition for him in Columbus, often buried in a hyper competitive wide receiving room curated by their coach Brian Hartline.
Fleming transferred to Penn State ahead of the 2024 season where he played a pivotal role in Penn State’s 33-30 win against USC making two receptions that helped Penn State tie the game and win in overtime.
In his lone season at Penn State, Fleming finished with 14 receptions for 176 yards and a receiving touchdown.
Fleming is scheduled to appear in front of District Judge Jonathan Wilcox in Troy, Pennsylvania on Wednesday for his preliminary hearing.
