Penn State quarterback Drew Allar is out for the season, coach James Franklin announced during his press conference after Saturday’s loss to Northwestern.
Allar suffered an injury on what ended up being Penn State’s second-to-last play of the 22-21 loss, and that injury is already serious enough that Allar’s season, and his Penn State career, are over.
Allar has already burned his redshirt, having started the team’s first six games. He’ll end 2025 90-139 for 963 yards, eight touchdowns and two interceptions.
He was Penn State’s started in 2023 and ’24 as well, helping Penn State to a 10-3 record in ’23 and a College Football Playoff semifinal berth in ’24.
Now, it’s time for Ethan Grunkemeyer to be Penn State’s QB1. The redshirt freshman has 11 college passes under his belt.
