As Penn State continues through its most expensive capital improvement in school history, the question has been what will the impact be toward attendance.
Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Pat Kraft had his annual fall press conference and he addressed what the temporary capacity will be.
“Our official capacity will be 106,304,” Kraft said. “So we’re a little bit below our normal number. But we are ready to go. The building, and the most hostile and exciting environment in all of sports, will be ready. Our fans are going to be ready to rock and roll when we kick off for Nevada. That was very important to me and our team that we did not want anything to get in the way of the greatest environment in all sports.”
Beaver Stadium, which reached the capacity of 106,572 in 2011, will have a smaller capacity but still will remain the second largest stadium by capacity in the Western Hemisphere trailing only Michigan Stadium (107,601).
Kraft emphasized the importance of maintaining a capacity saying, “It is part of our DNA.”
Kraft assured that the structure is safe with the athletic department doing a campaign on social media labeling the conditions as “lineman safe.”
Penn State opens its 2025 season against Nevada on August 30 in Beaver Stadium. The game will be broadcasted by CBS at 3:30 PM.
