While Penn State is trying to retain the nation’s top running back in Class of 2027 in five-star McKeesport prodigy Kemon Spell, the school is on the offensive to flip a five-star tackle in the Class of 2026.
Georgetown Preparatory Academy (Baltimore, Maryland) offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho committed to Oregon last month and much like Spell, will be taking visits throughout the fall.
Iheanacho plans to visit Happy Valley for the annual White Out against Oregon Sept. 27.
Penn State is not the only school on the 6’7”, 380-pound tackle’s travel itinerary.
“Before I committed to Oregon, I had already planned to be at LSU for the Florida game (Sept. 25), so I will honor that,” Iheanacho told Rivals. “I will probably go to a Maryland game and I am planning to be at the Penn State White Out game when they play Oregon (Sept. 27).”
Iheanacho will also take in a visit with in-state Maryland after a late surge from head coach Mike Locksley.
Locksley, much like Franklin, has made recruiting Maryland a top priority. Part of Locksley’s fruit was landing five-star EDGE from St. Frances Academy (Baltimore) Zion Elee.
Much like Spell who told Nittany Sports Now in May that he was locked in, Iheanacho seems to have Oregon locked in as his destination.
With the annual White Out typically Penn State’s largest visitor list, Penn State hopes to have one-on-one time with Iheanacho to try to flip him as well as some of his Maryland peers who have already committed to Penn State.
As of this writing, Penn State has commitments from three of the Top 20 Maryland prospects: corner Amauri Polydor (St. Frances Academy – Laurel, Maryland), safety Darrell Carey (DeMatha Catholic – Hyattsville, Maryland), and wide receiver Lavar Keys (DeMatha Catholic – Hyattsville, Maryland).
