Former Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford is back in the NFL.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Cincinnati Bengals have signed Clifford to their practice squad.
Clifford was released by the Green Bay Packers following the preseason and remained in free agency for the first two weeks of the NFL season.
The Packers drafted Clifford in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft following Clifford’s Rose Bowl-winning year.
Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow needs surgery after suffering a turf toe injury against the Jacksonville Jaguars and is expected to miss three months.

The franchise signed Brett Rypien from the practice squad to the active roster. Clifford is now the third quarterback on Cincinnati’s roster.
Clifford threw for 10,661 yards and 86 touchdowns in five seasons at Penn State. He most memorably led the Nittany Lions to the 2023 Rose Bowl victory over Utah in the final Rose Bowl outside of the College Football Playoff.
He is reunited with wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley and tight end Mike Gesicki, former Nittany Lions targets, in Cincinnati.
The Bengals play the Vikings in Minnesota on Sunday at 1 p.m.
