Penn State’s Class of 2027 is down a major commit as Pine Richland (Gibsonia, Pennsylvania) Khalil Taylor has decommitted from Penn State.
Taylor originally committed to the Nittany Lions on March 29.
Taylor’s stock has soared after having a dominant sophomore season at Seton LaSalle when he had over 1,300 all purpose yards and 24 touchdowns.
After committing to Penn State, Taylor was locked into a transfer issue between leaving Seton LaSalle to Pine Richland, where ultimately Taylor landed.
The Pine Richland wide receiver missed his opening game and has been dominant through his junior year racking up 12 receptions for 264 yards and eight touchdowns.
Throughout Taylor’s recruitment, he had over 20 scholarship offers. He had taken visits to a handful of regional schools – Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse – while he also went to Michigan and Notre Dame in June 2024.
Penn State was Taylor’s top visited school with 13 total visits, last visiting during the “White Out” against Oregon.
As of this writing, Taylor has not scheduled any further visits.
Prior to Taylor’s decommitment, Penn State had the second-ranked recruiting class in the country for 2027 with four highly touted prospects that included Taylor, Spell, five-star offensive lineman Layton Von Brandt Appoquinimink (Middletown, Delaware), and four-star cornerback Gabe Jenkins Imani Christian (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania).
