Back in August, Penn State men’s hockey head coach Guy Gadowsky was named head coach of the United States Collegiate Select (USCS) Team.
Today, a few familiar faces will join Gadowsky in Davos, Switzerland for the annual tournament in December.
College Hockey Inc. announced this morning that forward Aiden Fink and defenseman Mac Gadowsky were announced as part of the first five players selected for the USCS Team ahead of the 2025 Spengler Cup – the oldest invitational ice hockey tournament in the world.
In a first in the 102-year history of the tournament, the USCS Team will consist of the top NCAA collegiate players.
All active returning collegiate hockey that earned First or Second Team AHCA All-American recognition will receive an automatic invitation to the roster.
Last season, Fink became Penn State’s first ever Hobey Baker Top 10 Finalist that garnered him Second Team All-American selection.
Fink set single season scoring marks in goals (23), assists (30), and points (53) that led all Big Ten skaters and ranked fourth in the Big Ten.
So far in the 2025-26 season, Fink’s scoring hasn’t let up, having netted four points against Arizona State over the weekend.
Fink has 91 points in 76 career games and is poised to break Alex Limoges record of fastest Nittany Lions skater to 100 career points. Limoges did it in 102 games.
Gadowsky, the son of head coach Guy Gadowsky, is in his first season at Penn State after transferring from Army West Point.
Last season, Gadowsky led all defensemen in the nation with 16 goals while adding 26 assists for 42 points. He was selected as a First-Team All-American and was a Hobey Baker Top-10 Finalist.
Gadowsky enters the 2025-26 season second in the nation among active defensemen in points (65) and third in goals (20) while his assist (45) total ranks eighth.
The USCS will open with Team Canada on December 26 to open Spengler Cup action.
Each team will participate in a minimum of three contests.
The Spengler Cup runs from December 26-31, with the six participating teams.
Along with the Selects, host HC Davos, Team Canada, HC Fribourg-Gotteron, Sparta Praha and IFK Helsinki will be participating in the 2025 edition.
