The younger brother of newly appointed Penn State basketball team captain, Kayden Mingo, is making an official recruiting trip to State College this weekend, per Joe Tipton of On3 and Rivals.
Dylan Mingo, from Glen Head, New York, is a big time, five-star recruit from the Class of 2026. According to 247Sports, Mingo is the No.5 overall player in the country, the No. 2 combo guard in the country, and the No. 2 player from the state of New York.
The 6′-5,” 190-pound prospect from Long Island Lutheran High School also has the following schools at the top of his “warm list”: Alabama, UConn, Miami, Washington, and NC State.
Adam Finkelstein, the director of basketball scouting for CBS Sports, said the following about the younger Mingo brother.
“Mingo is a big guard with length, versatility, natural feel for the game, and an ability to get wherever he wants with the ball in his hands. He has a tight handle, can break his defender down with combo-moves, navigate a crowded lane instinctively, make reads out of ball-screens, utilize both hands, and create for himself and others. He is also a terrific perimeter rebounder (7.6 per game), very disruptive defender (2 steals), and simultaneously capable of guarding multiple positions.”
“Mingo has been a well-known prospect since he was younger but has continued to ascend with each passing year. That rate of improvement, as well as his young age (he won’t turn 17 until October of his senior year) suggests that there could still be significant untapped potential as he continues to climb the ranks in the national class.”
Penn State basketball opens its regular season Nov. 3 against Fairfield at the Bryce Jordan Center.
