Penn State has developed a reputation for recruiting in the WPIAL in recent years, and another western PA standout has PSU as a
Peters Township LB Reston Lehman has Penn State in his top three, he told our sister outlet Pittsburgh Sports Now Tuesday morning.
After holding 25+ offers, Lehman will decide between Pitt, Penn State and Rutgers.
Along with those 3 programs, the 6’4″, 230-pound pass rusher holds offers from Arizona, Akron, Boston College, Buffalo, Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan, Indiana, Iowa, James Madison, Maryland, Miami Ohio, Michigan State, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio U., Oklahoma, Syracuse, Purdue, Toledo, Tulane, UCLA, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
In terms of upcoming official visits, Lehman told PSN that he’ll be visiting Rutgers this coming weekend, followed by a trip to Pitt and then will close things out by traveling to State College.
Penn State has already done quite well with recruiting Class of 2026 linebackers.
In a 72-hour span, the program got commitments from an in-state four-star in Terry Wiggins (Coatesville) and another four-star in Mathieu Lamah (Manassas, Virginia).
Historically, some of Penn State’s best linebackers have come from Western PA.
LaVar Arrington, thought by many to be the “King of LBU,” came from North Hills.
Arrington’s teammate and close friend, Brandon Short, played at McKeesport.
In the mid-late 2000s, Upper St. Clair’s Sean Lee starred at Penn State before having an excellent NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys.
Penn State has 18 players committed to its 2026 recruiting class which ranks fourth per 247Sports. Only USC— with an absurd 26 commitments— Notre Dame and Ohio State are ahead.
