In recruiting news, Penn State footballโs top-rated Class of 2026 commit has received a Power 4 offer.
Per Tom Loy of 247Sports, Fort Cherry star safety Matt Sieg has been offered by Stanford.
To this point, Sieg has been all Penn State.
His father, Jeff, now an assistant coach at Fort Cherry, could see Beaver Stadium from his house growing up. So Matt was always a Penn State guy, and last November, he became a Penn State commit.
But that hasnโt stopped other programs from calling.
Since Sieg committed, heโs received offers from Alabama, Notre Dame and now Stanford.
So, yeah, the No. 2 โ26 player in Pennsylvania is a sought-after commodity.
THE SCOUTING REPORT
Hereโs the scouting report on Sieg, written up by 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Hudson Standish.
โEmerged on the national recruiting radar after leading Fort Cherry High School to their first WPIAL championship as a sophomore, finishing with 63 total touchdowns in all three phases. Has kept pace with his frankly absurd high school statistical production throughout his junior campaign, leading Fort Cherry to a 10-0 regular season and improving his record as a starter to 32-4. Blossomed into one of the top athletes in the 2026 recruiting cycle thanks to a multi-sport resume that features legitimate accolades on the basketball court, baseball field, and track where he posted a 6-foot-1 high jump and anchored a gold-winning 4×100 relay team. At this stage of the evaluation process, Sieg could wind up playing safety or wide receiver at the next level. High caliber athlete with top-tier lateral quickness and contact balance, a cerebral defender in the defensive backfield in part thanks to his experience at quarterback. An electric playmaker who still has his best football in front of him. Projects as a potential All-Conference selection with serious NFL Draft upside.โ
ANY CAUSE FOR CONCERN?
So do Penn State fans have any reason to be worried about Siegโs recruiting? Probably not.
Sieg has been a Penn State guy forever, and itโs also worth noting that Stanford was linked to another WPIAL Penn State commit, Aliquippaโs Tikey Hayes, after he had committed. Hayes ended up signing, and as of now, thereโs no evidence to suggest Sieg wonโt do the same.
