In recruiting news, Penn State hosted a five-star recruit over the weekend, and a pair of program legends pitched their alma mater to him.
As far as the 2026 Class goes, it doesn’t get much better than Brandon Arrington.
The 6-foot-3, 180-pound corner/athlete from all the way out in Cali— Mount Miguel High School in Spring Valley, to be exact— is the top ATH in the country per 247Sports, as well as the top overall player in California and No. 9 overall player in America from his class.
All indications are that Arrington’s visit to Penn State went quite well.
‘ARRINGTON’S BELONG…’
The most famous player named “Arrington” in football history weighed in on Brandon’s visit. Some Penn State fans will be disappointed to know that Brandon Arrington and LaVar Arrington are not related. Nonetheless, LaVar gave his pitch.
“Arringtons belong in blue and white at @PennStateFball” Lavar posted to social media Saturday afternoon.
One of Lavar’s best friends also weighed in.
“Brandons belong in blue and white as well,” Brandon Short posted in response.
Arrington and Short are two of the best linebackers to ever come out of “Linebacker University.”
Each were All-Americans in the late 90s and both are heavily involved with the program more than 25 years after playing their last game, with Short being on the school’s Board of Trustees.
Although Brandon Arrington isn’t a linebacker, he has an appropriate name for Penn State.
Imagine if PSU were recruiting a guy named “Saquon Cappelletti?” That would be a hoot, wouldn’t it?
THE COMPETITION
So what recruiting competition does Penn State have for Arrington? Well, he’s the type of player any school would love to have but few have a chance at getting. Arrington has official visits scheduled to USC (June 17-19) Oregon (June 13-15) and Texas A&M (June 5-7). He doesn’t have visits scheduled to Alabama or Georgia but both of those schools are listed as “warm” on 247.
Penn State currently has 14 players committed to its 2026 Class.
