Penn State has finalized a new name for Beaver Stadium, at least partly, and one trustee isnโt happy about it.
On Monday, the PSU Board of Trustees finalized a naming rights deal with West Shore Home to rename the football field.
West Shore Home Field at Beaver Stadium is the new official name of the Nittany Lions home, effective in the fall for the 2025 football season.

Penn State and West Shore Home agreed to a 15-year, $50 million deal worth roughly $3.3 million per season.
Founder and CEO of West Shore Home B.J. Werzyn is a Penn State alum and is excited for the new agreement.
Others, though, have differing perspectives.
The vote passed 22-8, but a group that featured former PSU quarterback Matt McGloin and trustee Anthony Lubrano disagreed with the decision.
In favor of naming the field after Joe Paterno, Lubrano strongly disagreed with PSUโs decision.
โThis is a very sad and sobering day in the history of Penn State,โ Lubrano said during the meeting. โToday, for many of us, the music dies.โ
Lubrano went as far as comparing the move to turning away from Jesus.
โToday, the Penn State we know and love is no more because today weโre about to commit the ultimate betrayal,โ Lubrano said. โHow fitting that Catholics around the world are celebrating the Lenten Season. The only question we should ask is who should play Judas.โ
Instead of honoring the Paternoโs, Lubrano views the decision as selling out to make money for the program.
โFor a few silver pieces, we are about to sell our souls, and in doing so turn our backs on two people who gave so much to this institution, Joe and Sue Paterno,โ Lubrano said.
Lubrano said since his return to the board in July 2020, heโs worked hard to honor the Paternos and proposed naming Beaver Stadium after them. Lubrano claims he received pushback and even potential retaliation from the Penn State board.
The naming rights deal runs through the 2039 season. Penn State announced a $50 million gift for the revitalization of Beaver Stadium. The Nittany Lions will host Nevada on August 30 in the opening game of the season at the newest-named field.
