Baldwin Jr. Reaches 800 Career Assists, Five Nittany Lions Score Double Digits as Penn State Basketball Ends Seven-Game Skid

Ace Baldwin Jr. (10 points, eight assists and six steals) recorded his 800th career assist as Penn State ended its seven-game losing streak against Nebraska (17-10, 7-9) 89-72.

PSU (14-13, 4-12) shot a season-high 61% from the field, with five Nittany Lions scoring in double figures. Yanic Konan Niederhauser (7-10) and Zach Hicks (5-9 3-pointers) both scored 19 as D’Marco Dunn (17) and Freddie Dilione (12) combined for 29 points.

Connor Essegian (4-9 3-pointers) led three double-digit scorers for Nebraska with 20 points.

Penn State made 13 of its 14 free throws and shot 35% from 3. Nebraska shot 52% from the field and 33% from deep.

FIRST HALF

After Nebraska tied it at 2-2, Penn State ran off 12 unanswered points, securing a double-digit lead five minutes into the game. That run was a part of a larger 37-17 scoring advantage for Penn State, which led by 20 (39-19) with 4:05 left in the half. Konan Niederhauser was a perfect 5-for-5 to start the game, amassing 15 points by the intermission.

SECOND HALF

Nebraska started the second half outscoring Penn State 13-6, trimming its deficit to 16. Penn State responded with a 7-0 run to make it a 20-point game again, putting the game out of reach.

TURNING POINT

After Nebraska cut its first-half deficit to nine (17-8), Penn State made eight of its next 12 shots during a 22-11 run.
