Penn State Basketball Suffers Worse Loss of the Season at No. 13 Illinois

Ben Humrichous led a trio of 20-point scorers with 21 points (5-of-9 from 3) as Illinois beat Penn State 91-52.

Two Nittany Lions scored double digits with Nick Kern Jr. (13) and Zach Hicks (11) combining for 24 points.

Penn State shot 31 percent overall with two made 3s as it fell to 12-4 (2-3) on the year. Illinois was 34-for-77 from the field and 10-of-31 from 3 as it improved to 12-3 (4-1).

Zach Hicks’ first 3 of the game gave him 1,000 career points in the first half. Ace Baldwin Jr. left the game with 4:42 left in the opening half with a back injury.

Key First-Half Moment: After the Nittany Lions grabbed an early 11-5, the Illini responded with a 40-10 run to close out the half. Illinois led by as many as 26 before the intermission.

Cleaning the Glass: Illinois outrebounded Penn State 57 to 32, with 19 coming on the offensive glass for 18 second-chance points.

Penn State’s next game will be on Sunday against No. 15 Oregon at the Bryce Jordan Center.
