Former Penn State Receiver Staying in Big Ten

Omari Evans is staying in the Big Ten after all, yet on the opposite coast of the conference.

According to Hayes Fawcett of On3, the former Penn State wide receiver has committed to Washington for the 2025 season.

“Hei5man run,” Evans posted on social media confirming his transfer to the Huskies in the Pacific Northwest.

Evans committed to Penn State as part of the 2022 recruiting class and spent three seasons with the Nittany Lions. He caught 21 passes for 415 yards and five touchdowns in 16 games during his junior campaign, combining for more catches and yards this past year than his first two combined.

Rarely utilized in Mike Yurcich’s offense with five and four catches, respectively, in 2022 and 2023, Evans became PSU’s No. 2 wideout at times in Andy Kotelnicki’s high-octane scheme.

He caught two balls for 55 yards in the Fiesta Bowl against Boise State but didn’t record a grab facing either SMU or Notre Dame in Penn State’s two other playoff games. Wide receivers were targeted five times against the Irish and didn’t record a catch.

Evans’ best game came against Kent State, totaling season highs in receptions (4), yards (116), yards per catch (29), and touchdowns (1). He also made four grabs for 49 yards in the regular-season finale at Beaver Stadium against the Maryland Terrapins.

Penn State defeated Washington 35-6 in the 2024 White Out, but do not play the Huskies in 2025. The team’s top two receivers, Evans and Harrison Wallace, entered the transfer portal before the window closed last week. The Nittany Lions have replaced the duo with Kyron Hudson (USC), Devonte Ross (Troy), and four-star freshmen Matthew Outten and Lyrick Samuel.
