A former Big Ten DL who Penn State is familiar with in recruiting is now in the transfer portal and plans to visit PSU.
Bear Alexander, a 6-foot-3, 315-pounder is working on a trip to Penn State, along with Oregon and SMU, per 247Sports.
Penn State was a finalist for Alexander when he first entered the transfer portal in the spring of 2023. He eventually picked Georgia.

247 also reported that other possible destinations for Alexander are Colorado, Georgia— where he played his first college season in 2022 before transferring to USC— and Texas.
In Alexander’s lone season at Georgia, he helped the team win a national championship. As a true freshman, he played in 12 of Georgia’s 15 games and picked up two sacks and 13 hurries. Alexander also had 2 tackles for loss and a sack in Georgia’s commanding 65-7 win over TCU for the national title.
ALEXANDER AND PENN STATE
When the 6-foot-3, 315-pound DL first entered the transfer portal from Georgia in the spring of 2023, Penn State was one of his six finalists.
After that, he played a season plus in LA.
This year, he played 68 total snaps through three games per Pro Football Focus.
28 of those came in the team’s upset over LSU Week 1.
Alexander deciding to redshirt in late September meant that he wasn’t available for USC when Penn State came to the Coliseum for an Oct. 12 showdown.
Penn State ended up winning that game 33-30 in an overtime thriller.
A POSITION OF NEED

Penn State’s situation at defensive tackle already isn’t ideal. It’s going to become even more challenging next season. This year, Penn State lost sixth-year DT Hakeem Beamon (no longer with program) and fifth-year Alonzo Ford (injury) within two weeks. After this season, Penn State’s projected to lose Zane Durant (NFL Draft) and a pair of sixth-years in Dvon J-Thomas and Coziah Izzard (out of eligibility)
Penn State plays SMU in its first-ever College Football Playoff game Saturday, Dec. 21. Kickoff is scheduled for noon on TNT at Beaver Stadium.
