Two of Penn State football’s best players have been named All-Americans.

Saturday morning, ahead of the team’s Big Ten championship showdown with Oregon, the Reese’s Senior Bowl announced that tight end Tyler Warren and defensive end Abdul Carter have been named to its All-American teams for offense and defense, respectively.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anybody.

Warren has developed into the best tight end in the country. He ended the regular season with 978 yards and six touchdowns on 81 receptions. But that wasn’t all. He also ran the ball for 189 yards and four touchdowns on 21 carries, good for nine YPC.

THA CARTER III

Penn State DE Abdul Carter will be on a ton of All-America teams by the time all is said and done with this season.

Abdul Carter would tally two sacks and two tackles-for-loss against Maryland.

Carter ended the 2024 regular season with 33 solo tackles, 10 sacks and two forced fumbles.

With two sacks against Maryland,he became the first Penn State player to reach double digit sacks since Carl Nassib accomplished that feat in 2015. Even more impressively, Carter did this during his first season playing defensive end at the college level. He spent his first two seasons at linebacker, where he was a first-team all-conference performer in 2023.

Warren has gotten a lot of Heisman talk for his performance but Carter feels he should be considered, too, and that defensive players in general don’t get enough love.

“I just feel like there’s a lot of hype and the offensive players are recognized as the best player in the country,” Carter said after the Maryland game. “But there’s also defensive players who make just as much of an impact as the offensive players.”

Carter, Warren and the rest of Penn State’s team are worried about No. 1 Oregon.

Penn State takes on Oregon for the Big Ten Championship Saturday night on CBS. Kickoff is scheduled for 8.

PSU already has its spot in the College Football Playoff virtually locked up. It’s a matter of seeding now.
