Beau Pribula Update: Transfer Portal QB Lining up More Visits

Penn State fans will miss Beau Pribula, whoโ€™s expected to enter the transfer portal after three seasons.

Former Penn State QB Beau Pribula, who entered the transfer portal earlier this week, has lined up more visits.

After taking a visit to Missouri Tuesday, Pribula is expected to take trips to Iowa, Indiana and UCF, per a report by Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.

Itโ€™s worth noting that two of those schools are in the Big Ten.

Penn State plays Iowa in 2025, with the trip to Kinnick Stadium scheduled for Oct. 18. It also plays Indiana, with that game scheduled for Nov. 8 at Beaver Stadium. Could the York native, who grew up a Penn State fan, be playing against his old team?

PRIBULAโ€™S PENN STATE CAREER

Pribula became a fan favorite amongst Penn State fans over his three seasons. Although Pribula technically was a backup QB, he wasnโ€™t a traditional QB2. Pribula appeared in each of Penn Stateโ€™s first 13 games, used mainly as a runner. He ended the season with 242 yards and four touchdowns on 38 carries. Pribula only passed the ball 35 times but completed 26 of them, with his finest hour coming Oct. 26 at Wisconsin.ย

Starting QB Drew Allar got hurt late in the first half, and with Penn State down 10-7 at the break, somebody needed to step up.

On defense, that guy was Jaylen Reed, whose Pick 6 gave Penn State a lead it wouldnโ€™t lose.

On offense, Pribula was the guy. He went 11-for-13 for 98 yards and a touchdown. The next week, Allar was fine and Pribula went back into his Swiss Army Knife role. But for the second half of that Madison night, Pribula was the man for Penn State. If Pribula wasnโ€™t sharp, who knows if Penn State beats Wisconsin? If Penn State doesnโ€™t beat Wisconsin, it isnโ€™t in the College Football Playoff.

A BROKEN SYSTEM?

Penn State coach James Franklin had some controversy surrounding his team following a 44-7 win over Maryland Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024 at Beaver Stadium.

For Penn State coach James Franklin, the Beau Pribula situation is an example of whatโ€™s wrong with college football.

Franklin said that he โ€œhatesโ€ how this came about and wants things to change with college football.

โ€œThereโ€™s been a lot of discussions about maybe a commissioner of college football,โ€ Franklin told reporters during his weekly Monday presser. โ€œI think itโ€™s pretty obvious we need that. We need somebody running college football. We need somebody that is not biased based on a conference, and that is out of the financial impacts of it as well. Because if youโ€™re just making decisions which are in the best interest of the student-athlete and college football, then I think you can do it. But if youโ€™re biased by a specific conference, or if youโ€™re impacted by making all your decisions based on revenue or earnings, then youโ€™re never going to get to a good place.โ€

Penn State has its first-ever College Football Playoff game scheduled for noon Saturday, Dec. 21 at Beaver Stadium. The game will be broadcast on TNT and HBO Max.
