One of Penn State football’s best players will be a game time decision for Saturday’s game against Ohio State, coach James Franklin told reporters at his weekly presser Monday.

Defensive end Dani Dennis-Sutton suffered what looked to be a groin injury in the second quarter of Saturday’s 28-13 win against Wisconsin this past Saturday night in Madison.

He briefly returned to the game but missed most of the second half.

Dennis-Sutton is a guy many expect to be a first-round draft pick come next spring. This season, he has 10 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble along with causing other kinds of havoc on the EDGE.

THE NEXT MEN UP

True DE Max Granville is a player Franklin said Penn State would be winning to use more in the event that defensive end Dani-Dennis Sutton can’t play.

Penn State is deep at defensive end, and although the team would love to have Dennis-Sutton good to go Saturday, it has capable depth options on the event that he can’t. Veterans Smith Vilbert and Amin Vanover— who have been with the program since 2020 and 2021, respectively— are guys that Penn State would need to rely on more.

But there’s a young player that, while still an option to redshirt, could see more time.

Franklin mentioned true freshman Max Granville as somebody Penn State would be willing to use if needed.

Granville has played in two games this season, picking up 13 snaps against Kent State and 10 this past Saturday against Wisconsin, per Pro Football Focus.

ANOTHER KEY INJURY

Before exiting Penn State’s win over Wisconsin Saturday, Oct. 26, QB Drew Allar was 14 of 18 for 148 yards and a touchdown

Most weeks, a player of Dennis-Sutton’s caliber would be the No. 1 injury-related storyline going into the game. But that’s not the case this week.

The injury Penn State fans will be talking about the most is the one to QB Drew Allar, who got hurt in the first half against Wisconsin didn’t return to the game. Like with Dennis-Sutton, Franklin said he expects Allar to be a game time decision.

In any case, No. 3 Penn State is scheduled to take on No. 4 Ohio State at noon on Fox.
