A former Penn State receiver suffered an injury late in this week’s Monday Night Football game.
With less than a minute left in Monday’s contest between the Buccaneers and Ravens, Tampa Bay WR Chris Godwin was injured after catching a pass.

It’s not clear yet what the injury was but it’s certainly something to monitor.
This isn’t the first time Godwin— who played at Penn State from 2014-16 before going to Tampa in the third round of the 2017 Draft— has been injured in his pro career. In December 2021, his season came to a premature end when he tore his ACL.
After that injury, Godwin bounced back to have big seasons in 2022 and ‘23, going over 1,000 yards in each.
2024 had been good to him, too.
Through six games, Godwin had been one of the best statistical receivers in football.
He had been amongst the league leaders in receptions (4th) yards (6th) and touchdowns (tied for 2nd). Last Sunday’s game in New Orleans was particularly dominant. In a 51-27 win over the Saints, Godwin ended with 125 yards and two touchdowns, catching 11 in 13 targets. He also went over the century mark in Tampa’s upset win over the Lions in Detroit Week 2. He ended that one with 117 yards and a touchdown, catching seven of eight targets.
Simply put, he’s a staple in Tampa’s offense.
With Penn State football, Godwin was a key part of the 2016 Big Ten Championship team when he caught 11 TD passes. Despite only spending three seasons at Penn State, he’s tied for fourth in school history on the all-time TD receptions list (18), fourth in career receiving yards (2,404) and seventh in career receptions (153).
