Penn State wrestling has added a Big 12 opponent to this year’s non-conference schedule.
No, not that Big 12 opponent.
There might indeed be a day where Penn State wrestles David Taylor’s Oklahoma State Cowboys but it probably won’t be this season.
Instead, this year’s Penn State team is set to take on Wyoming Sunday, Dec. 15. We do not know when the meet will be scheduled to kick off or what channel it will be on. Penn State’s home Sunday dual meets generally start in the middle of the afternoon. This also appears to be the first scheduled dual meet between Penn State and Wyoming, and Wyoming is excited.
“When the opportunity to dual against Penn State came up, we jumped on it,” Wyoming head coach Mark Branch told the school’s official website. “Those are the kind of opportunities we want for this team. We have several guys who can be All-Americans, so you want to wrestle the best, and Penn State has proven who they are for the last decade.”
Branch also has a message to his team.
“Raise your expectations,” he said. “We have a very solid lineup and a lot of experience, yet we are still relatively young. We need to take that experience we gained last year and make big jumps. Our schedule is tougher than it has been in several years, and we expect our team to step up to the challenge.”
Also on the non conference schedule, American is scheduled to take on Penn State in Happy Valley for a February dual meet.
Penn State wrestling announced its 2025 Big Ten opponents late last month, although the dates haven’t officially been set yet.
At home, Penn State will take on Iowa, Michigan State, Michigan and Maryland.
On the road, Cael Sanderson’s empire will take on Nebraska, Illinois, Ohio State and Rutgers.
