Former Penn State and current Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons left Thursday night’s win over the New York Football Giants with an injury.
We now know what that injury is.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported Friday that Parsons has suffered a high-ankle sprain, and his status is still up in the air.

Parsons has been one of the best players in football since being drafted in the first round out of Penn State in 2021. He’s been an All-Pro in each of his first three seasons, twice being named to the first team. Through less than three games this season, Parsons has 14 tackles (11 solo, three assists) and a sack. He left Thursday night’s game in the fourth quarter.
James Franklin only got to coach Parsons for two seasons (2018-19). Parsons would have been back for 2020, but due to COVID-19 threatening the Big Ten season, Parsons opted out and focused on the Draft, where he went with the 12th overall pick.
Although he stil wishes Penn State had Parsons for 2020, he loves the player and person Parsons has developed into.
“I’m proud of him,” Franklin said at a presser last fall. “I’m really proud of him for a lot of different reasons. Football is one of them, but it’s a small one.”
Parsons was back in Happy Valley last season for Penn State’s season opener against West Virginia Sept. 2. Before that, Parsons spoke to the team and, per Franklin, did “just a phenominal job.”
“He talked about the game, but talked specifically about Penn State and this community,” Franklin said.
Franklin went on to say that Parsons sent him and Parsons’ defensive coordinator at Penn State, current Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry, “a beautiful heartfelt, thoughtful message” out of the blue.
Like everybody else, the Penn State coach is impressed with Micah Parsons the football player, but is more thrilled with Micah Parsons the person.
