The 5-foot-11, 170-pounder is a three-star from Maryland’s famous DeMatha Catholic. His commitment announcement comes less than a week after he was offered, which took place when he was at Happy Valley for the annual Lasch Bash, which is Penn State’s top annual recruiting weekend of the summer. He also has offers from Boston College, East Carolina, Marshall, Maryland, Memphis, Temple, Townson, USF and Virginia Tech. He’s Penn State’s sixth overall commit and second receiver.
Keys talked with 247Sports’ Brian Dohn about his commitment, and revealed that he’s named after one of the best to play for PSU.
“My parents named me after (former Penn State great) LaVar Arrington,” Keys told 247. “When I got to DeMatha my freshman year, we had an assignment for art and I made a Penn State symbol. Watching KJ (Hamler), watching Jahan Dotson and watching Penn State on t.v., it’s where I want to be more than anywhere else.”
Keys then described Penn state as his “dream school.”
“Everyone recruited me different but I said my goal was to be at Penn State and it is just better for me to end it now,” he said. “I wouldn’t want to wait.
“Why not take it now? This is my dream school. This is where I want to be and play and compete.”
Penn State now has six players committed to its Class of 2026, with half of those coming within the past week. 247Sports now ranks Penn State’s 26 Class No. 1 in the country.
