A former Penn State defensive back has found a new NFL home.
Tuesday afternoon, NFL insider Jordan Schultz was the first to report that Adrian Amos, a safety who was one of Penn State’s best players of the brief-but-unforgettable Bill O’Brien era and was a leader of current coach James Franklin’s first team in 2014, has signed with the Jaguars.

Amos started the 2023 season with  Jets and ended it with the Texans, playing five games a Houston team that ended up winning a playoff game and making it to the divisional round.
A fifth-round pick, Amos started his pro football journey with the Bears in 2015 and almost instantly became a regular, starting all 16 games as a rookie. He ended up playing four seasons in the Windy City before signing with the rival Packers in March 2019. He played four seasons with the Packers, starting all 71 games in that time span. Amos then signed with the Jets in June 2023.
At Penn State, Amos played for Franklin, O’Brien and Joe Paterno, becoming a regular starter as a sophomore in 2012 and keeping that role through his last season.
Amos had a chance to leave Penn State after 2011, when the Jerry Sandusky scandal led to the program receiving heavy sanctions, part of which being that players could go to another program without losing any of their eligibility.
Amos stayed, and as a result, was a key member of the 2012 team that, despite ending with a modest 8-4 record, is one of the most beloved in program history because of what it accomplished under the  circumstances.
Last season, Amos played  in 16 games for the Jets and Texans, ending with 28 tackles, a pass defense and a fumble recovery.
