Penn State’s renovation of Beaver Stadium received a significant financial boost this week.
On Wednesday, PAM Health CEO Anthony Misitano donated $25 million to Penn State on behalf of the company and the Misitano family. It’s the second-largest donation in PSU athletic department history.
Misitano, a 1977 and 1981 graduate of Penn State, is a co-owner of the Pittsburgh Passion Women’s Football team alongside Nittany Lion legend Franco Harris’ family, Dana and Dok Harris. The West Towner, a significant addition to the revitalization efforts, will be named after Misitano. A season ticket holder since 1978, Misitano’s contributions have previously benefitted field hockey, women’s hockey, and women’s basketball.
“We are so very grateful to the Misitano family and PAM Health for their generous gift to the Beaver Stadium Revitalization project,” vice president for intercollegiate athletics Pat Kraft said in a statement. “The Misitano family has a long history with Penn State Athletics and has been unbelievably supportive of a number of sports programs, and this tremendous Founders Gift is another example of their devotion to Penn State. Words cannot express the appreciation we have for the Misitano family and PAM Health for their commitment to be leaders in this important project to make Beaver Stadium even more iconic than it already is.”
PAM Health is based in Enola, PA, and operates 15 offices throughout the country, mainly opperating hospitals anf urgent care centers in the Pittsburgh area. Penn State approved a $700 million revitalization plan for Beaver Stadium in May 2024, to “grow revenue-generating opportunities, transform the fan and community experience, and fuel the future funding for all 31 athletics programs at Penn State.”
The West Towner will soon be home to private suites, expanded concourses, and Penn State’s Welcome Center. Full renovations will be complete by 2027.
Penn State welcomes additional ribbon boards on the north and south sides of the field and winterization efforts this fall in preparation for hosting a potential College Football Playoff game and other wintertime events at Beaver Stadium.
