The sports-viewing world is changing once again.
News broke this week that Fox, Disney and Warner Bros. are joining forces to create and launch a new sports streaming service and digital platform later in 2024.
Under the agreement, games, sports shows and more will be available on one app, combining the services of three powerhouses in the industry. The NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA, college football and basketball, plus top golf, soccer, tennis, and NASCAR races are all expected to be available.
Sports and leagues set to be included in the new ESPN, Fox Sports, and Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service:
🏈 NFL, UFL
🏈 College Football Playoff
🏈 ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC
🏀 NBA, WNBA
🏀 March Madness
🏀 Big East
⚾️ MLB
🏒 NHL
⛳️ The Masters
⛳️ PGA Tour, PGA… pic.twitter.com/yG8jB3FAe3— Front Office Sports (@FOS) February 7, 2024
The sports viewing world is about to significantly shift as we know it. The cost of the service is not yet known. This further impacts cable TV and the battle for the next big streaming service to compete with Netflix and others.
The Big Ten agreed to a seven-year, $7 billion deal with Fox, CBS, and NBC in August, 2022. CBS and Fox are mainstays for Big Ten basketball while NBC joined the fold for football this past year with “Big Ten Saturday Night.” CBS and the SEC are no longer dual partners and the Big Ten will occupy the 3:30 p.m. timeslot designated for the game of the week. The NCAA Tournament is broadcasted by Turner Sports and CBS.
ESPN, Warner Bros., and Fox’s service is expected to be available this fall.
