One of Penn State football’s key players will be back for the 2024 season.
Earlier this month, tight end Theo Johnson announced that he’d be forgoing his last season of eligibility and declaring for the NFL Draft.
But Penn State’s 2024 TE room should be solid, and the return of Tyler Warren will make it even better.
Warren announced via Instagram Friday night that he’ll be returning to Penn State for the 2024 season.
This is a big deal for Penn State. Warren developed into first-year QB Drew Allar’s top red zone target over the course of 2023, ending the regular-season with a team-high seven receiving touchdowns.
In Warren’s statement, he wrote that “having the opportunity to compete against the best, be trained by the best and receive a world-class education is something I’m grateful for every day.”
“As I reflect on the past four year,” he wrote, “I’m thankful for the memories and lessons learned alongside my teammates and coaches. I’m excited to have the opportunity to play in the Peach Bowl in just a few short days with a team I love and respect.”
“We’ve done some great things as a family, but I do believe the best is yet to come.”
It’s looking like Penn State will have close to a full-strength roster for the Peach Bowl, scheduled for Dec. 30 against Ole Miss in Atlanta.
So far, the only player that’s opted out of the game is defensive end and projected first-round pick Chop Robinson.
Another projected first-rounder, left tackle Olu Fashanu, announced earlier Friday that he’ll be declaring for the NFL Draft. He didn’t confirm whether or not he’d be playing in the Peach Bowl but said he’d be with the team.
