DETROIT — As expected, Penn State trounced Michigan State and brought home the Land Grant Trophy for the second straight season.
Penn State led just 13-0 at the half, but ended up pounding Sparty, 42-0.
QB Drew Allar played one of his best college games, ending the day 17-for-26 for 292 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
Penn State got the scoring started on its first drive, which ended with a 49-yard field goal by Alex Felkins. It remained 3-0 for the rest of the quarter, and Felkins connected again to make it 6-0 early in the second.
Penn State finally cracked the endzone with less than five minutes left in the first half, with Drew Allar hitting Kaytron Allen for a two-yard score on third and goal. It stayed 13-0 into halftime.
In the third quarter, Penn State busted the game open on an eight-yard touchdown pass from backup QB Beau Pribula to tight end Tyler Warren.
Allar was also on the field for this play as a receiver.
Later in the third quarter, a 60-yard pass from Allar to Omari Evans set the stage for Pribula’s second total TD, this one from two yards. Early in the fourth quarter, Allar threw his second touchdown pass, hitting tight end Theo Johnson for a 21-yard score.
Finally, Nicholas Singleton ran in from 14 yards to finish the scoring.
Penn State has finished the season 10-2 for the second straight year and will not await its bowl opponent.
