Sources: The #Giants believe Pro Bowl RB Saquon Barkley suffered a sprained ankle at the end of today’s win over the #AZCardinals.
I’m told it “could have been much worse,” and the team feels Barkley avoided a major injury.

Former Penn State RB and current Giants star Saquon Barkley played a big part in the team’s comeback win at Arizona.
Barkley ended the day with 92 yards of total offense and two touchdowns, helping the Giants, who were down 28-7 late in the third quarter, to a 31-28 win.
But Barkley also ended the day being helped off the field with a little more than a minute to go.

We don’t yet know the extent of Barkley’s injury, but his health has been an issue throughout his NFL career. Most notably, he missed all but one full game of the 2020 season with a torn ACL. But Barkley was healthy in 2022, ending the year with 1,312 yards and 10 touchdowns, averaging 4.4 yards per carry. Barkley led the Giants to the playoffs for the first time since 2016 and scored two touchdowns in its road upset win at Minnesota in the wildcard round.
Barkley had quite the offseason as well. After months of speculation, Barkley and the New York Football Giants reached a one-year deal worth up to $11 million with a $2 million signing bonus in July.
The Penn State great has been with the Giants since they took him with the second overall pick in the 2018 draft
The sides had until July 17 to reach a long-term deal and weren’t able to do it. Since then, speculation had ramped up about Barkley holding out into the 2023 season, something he said was possible.
The Giants will probably need Saquon Barkley if they’re to make the playoffs again and be an NFC East contender. He’s one of football’s best backs when he’s available.
