Penn State Receives Commitment From 2024 3-Star OT Garrett Sexton

A nice surprise to start the week for James Franklin and Penn State as they receive a surprise commitment.

2024 3-star offensive tackle Garrett Sexton was scheduled to make his college decision on May 1, as he was deciding between Penn State, Oklahoma, Iowa and Minnesota.

However, Sexton decided to move things up and announce his decision this morning and it was good news for Penn State.

The 6’7″, 250-pound offensive lineman from Hartland, Wisconsin announced on Twitter that he was going to be a Nittany Lion.

“I would like to thank God, my family, friends, coaches, teammates and everyone else who has put me in the position I’m in today and for helping me throughout this process. I’d also like to thank Coach Franklin and Coach Trautwein, along with the rest of the staff for giving me this opportunity. With that being said, I’m very excited to announce my commitment to Penn State to continue my academic and football career!”

This was a nice win for Penn State considering they didn’t offer Sexton until March 4. It’s also interesting that hometown Wisconsin tried to get involved late as they offered Sexton a scholarship just two days ago.

Sexton becomes Penn State’s 11th commitment for their Class of 2024 and the 4th offensive lineman, joining 4-star Donovan Harbour, 3-star Caleb Brewer and 4-star Cooper Cousins. The last 3 commitments for Penn State have been from offensive lineman.
