“Coach (James) Franklin actually came up to Poly to meet me, and ever since then, they’ve just been recruiting me hard,” Williams said of Penn State during an interview. “Penn State is for sure a top school for me. That’s Linebacker University. You already know that’s Linebacker U.”
The other teams under Williams’ consideration include Alabama, Miami, Michigan, Oregon, Texas and UCLA. The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder decommitted from USC on Oct. 18.
Williams will likely make a visit to Penn State this coming fall, with the Nittany Lions’ yearly White Out game getting the highest possibility so far.
He has only visited UCLA as of April, but has three scheduled at Michigan, Texas and Miami in June.
Williams is the No. 105 overall prospect and No. 8 linebacker in On3’s 2024 rankings, while holding a total of more than 30 Division I offers before narrowing his options down to seven.
This past fall, Williams compiled 79 tackles (59 solo and 25.5 for loss), 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception for Long Beach Poly, who posted a 10-1 record.
In their 11 games, the Jackrabbits held their opponents to seven points or less eight times, which includes five shutouts, all coming on a streak from Sept. 30 to Oct. 28.
Williams also played all 12 games as a sophomore in 2022, recording 48 tackles and two sacks.
