Carter made first-team Freshman All-American and running backs Singleton and Kaytron Allen made second-team and honorable mention respectively.
Carter (6-foot-3, 233 pounds) was a force almost instantly at Penn State. Carter made six starts and picked up 55 tackles (35 solo), 6.5 sacks, 10.5 tackles for loss, four pass breakups and two forced fumbles. He was named second-team All-Big Ten and he is also a finalist for the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award. Carter infused a playmaking element to Penn State’s defense that it hadn’t had in its front seven since Micah Parsons played. Now, Carter is on a freshman All-America team.
Singleton (6-foot, 219 pounds) ran for 941 yards and a Penn State freshman record 10 touchdowns, splitting carries with Allen. He won Big Ten Freshman of the Week three times for his performances against Ohio, Auburn and Maryland.
He earned Big Ten Freshman of the Year and was third-team All-Big Ten this season.
Allen (5-foot-11, 201 pounds) had seven more carries than Singleton during the regular season and rushed for 830 yards and nine touchdowns.
He won Big Ten Freshman of the Week for his performances against Central Michigan and Rutgers.
Singleton and Allen became the first freshman duo in Big Ten history to each rush for over 800 yards and can make more history when Penn State plays in the Rose Bowl Jan. 2 against Utah.
