Kaytron Allen Named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week

Penn State Nittany Lions running back Kaytron Allen (13) November 12, 2022 David Hague/NSN

On Monday, Kaytron Allen’s 117-yards and one touchdown performance at Rutgers from Saturday’s win received recognition as he received Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week.

Allen shared the honor with Ohio State running back Dallan Hayden, who rushed for 146 yards and three touchdowns in its 43-30 win at Maryland on Saturday.

Allen in the third quarter broke off a 59-yard run in the third quarter that showed off his explosiveness as well as his known tackle-breaking ability. His big run set up an 8-yard touchdown by Allen himself to put Penn State 45-10.

Allen has received this honor for the second time this season, as he received the honor after his 111-yard game against Central Michigan on Sep. 24.

A Penn State running back received Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive week as Nicholas Singleton won the award after his 122-yard performance against Maryland in a 30-0 win on Nov. 12.

Allen also made history on Saturday with Singleton as the duo became the first pair of freshman teammates to rush for over 700 yards in a season and will have an opportunity to make even more history in their regular season finale on Saturday against Michigan State at Beaver Stadium.
