In their closest dual yet this season, the top-ranked Penn State wrestlers got by No. 5 Iowa State, 22-12, on Tuesday night to close the Collegiate Duals in New Orleans.

One of the night’s biggest wins came from Max Dean, who had a rough weekend earlier this month with a pair of losses to Rider and Lehigh. Dean, now ranked fifth by InterMat, has bounced back nicely, including getting a key win over the Cyclones’ second-ranked Yonger Bastida, 4-1.

Roman Bravo-Young earned a 10-2 major decision at 133 over Ramazan Attasauov. Also earning wins for the Nittany Lions were Beau Bartlett (141), Levi Haines (157), Carter Starocci (174), and Greg Kerkvliet (285). All won by decision except for Kerkvliet, who received a forfeit.

Penn State is now 7-0 on the season heading into the holiday break. The Nittany Lions wrestle again on Jan. 6 on the road at Wisconsin.
