247Sports’ newest Crystal Ball Prediction has Jaxon Smolik, a three-star quarterback out of West Des Moines, Iowa, flipping from Tulane to Penn State.
Smolik committed to Tulane June 23
Smolik is the No. 9 recruit in Iowa and the No. 38 quarterback in the country according to 247Sports’ Composite rankings.
Baylor, LSU, Notre Dame and Wisconsin have also been reaching out to Smolik throughout the summer, but Penn State is getting traction for the 6-foot-1, 175-pound pro-style quarterback, and Smolik getting an offer from Penn State indicates that there is a strong interest.
Smolik was at Penn State’s Elite Showcase V and Lasch Bash Barbecue this past weekend and impressed coaches enough to receive an offer.
He built good chemistry with receivers and tight ends, such as Class of 2023 four-star commit Andrew Rappleyea.

Smolik was also impressive at the Elite 11 showcase in California with a standout performance, and he is steadily rising in recruiting rankings.
It might be wise for Penn State to close in on Smolik quickly as his recruiting is already starting to blow up, especially after 2023 four-star quarterback Marcus Stokes flipped from Penn State to Florida.
