Update (9:33 p.m.)

Word first got out via Pac 12 Hotline’s Jon Wilner, and became official hours later.
USC has been in what is now the PAC 12 since 1922, and UCLA joined in 1928. The schools have created one of the more notable rivalries in college sports, playing for the Victory Bell in football every season.
The teams had their first meeting in 1929, which was a 76-0 USC win. The Trojans lead the series 51-33-7.
In basketball, the schools first met in Feburary of 1928, and UCLA in particular has made a name for itself since, winning 11 national championships.
The schools would give the Big Ten a historic rivalry, but pretty much everybody would agree that it wouldn’t make any geographic sense.
Update (7:45 p.m.)-
It’s official.
The Big Ten Conference has voted to accept both USC and crosstown rival UCLA as full members of the conference effective August 2, 2024, per USC release.

Spoke to a few sources who called USC and UCLA's move to the Big Ten a formality, with a press conference expected in next 24 hours. Perhaps as soon as tonight. This is essentially done.
