Gonzalez (6-foot-2, 190 pounds) helped Central Catholic to a WPIAL championship game appearance in 2021, where the team fell to eventual-state champion Mt. Lebanon. Penn State offered him Feb. 3, and along with Penn State, Gonzalez has offers from Central Michigan, Eastern Kentucky, Miami, Pitt, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Gonzalez’s teammate and classmate, four-star linebacker Anthony Speca, will also be attending the Blue-White game, and another Western Pennsylvania product, Aliquippa’s Cam Lindsey, will be there as well.
Gonzalez is the son of former Pitt quarterback Pete Gonzalez, who played there from 1993-1997. The older Gonzalez also played for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1998-99, and appeared in one game during the 1999 season.
