JUCO transfer planning to sign with Penn State in February

The last Penn State safety to transfer from Lackawanna Community College turned into an All-American. Now, it looks like the Nittany Lions are getting a transfer from the same school that plays the same position.

Tyrece Mills was not one of the 23 players Penn State officially signed Wednesday, but he told Lions247 that he’d be “signing the next signing day in February.”

Mills, rated as the No. 11 junior college recruit by 247, got offered by Penn State in March after Lackawana’s 2020 season was postponed due to COVID-19. He committed to Penn State May 5 but didn’t sign with most of Penn State’s commits due to what he described to Lions247 as “a mix up between things with my school.”
Jaquan Brisker played at Lackawanna in 2017 and ’18 before moving to State College for the 2019 season. In his three seasons with Penn State, Brisker has reached All-America status.
JB Nelson, a Lackawanna offensive lineman, was one of the 23 who signed with Penn State Wednesday.

Lackawanna’s stats say he had 35 tackles (3.5 for loss), five pass breakups, a forced fumble and seven sacks in 2021. His highlights can be found here.
