Penn State senior long snapper Chris Stoll arrived in Happy Valley as a walk-on, and this season he’s up for the Burlsworth Trophy as the nation’s top former walk-on. The Nittany Lions’ next long snapper has the chance to follow the same path.
2022 long snapper Will Patton from Shenango High School in New Castle, Pennsylvania has committed to the Lions as a preferred walk-on.
Blessed to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Penn State. All glory to God! @coachjfranklin @CoachJoeLorig @CoachRaisbeck pic.twitter.com/VRdaiozWtp

Patton made a couple of visits to Happy Valley this fall, attending games in September and making a visit to campus back in June. He also made a couple of visits to Ohio State, attending the PSU-OSU game in October.
According to Kohl’s Professional Camps, Patton (6-foot-4, 205 pounds) is a 4.5 star-rated long snapper. Kohl’s wrote this about his time at the Kohl’s National Scholarship Camp:
“Patton attended the Kohl’s National Scholarship Camp and showed off his impressive frame and snap speed throughout the whole camp. Patton was all around the target throughout the charting session and was able to average a .68 second snap time during camp. Patton has extremely long levers and uses them very well in his snapping motion. He has the size, athleticism and snap speed that would impress any college coach.”
