Coming off their opening week win over No. 12 Wisconsin, Penn State is heavily favored for their home opener this Saturday against Ball State.

The early lines have the Nittany Lions as 22.5 point favorites with an over/under of 52 against Ball State. Kickoff from Beaver Stadium will take place at 3:30 PM.

Ball State opened their season last Thursday as they beat Western Illinois, 31-21, despite entering the game as 31 point favorites. Quarterback Drew Plitt was 17 of 28 for 188 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions, with his main target being wide receiver Justin Hall, who caught eight passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns. While Ball State held Western Illinois to just 70 rushing yards, they did allowed 367 yards passing to Connor Sampson.

Despite struggling a bit offensively, the Penn State defense had a bend but not break mentality and came up with the necessary plays to stop a number of Wisconsin drives. James Franklin’s team entered Saturday as 5.5 point underdogs.
