SEATTLE, Wash. – Running back Cam Wallace needed three carries to make his mark against Washington.
After managing two yards on his first two attempts, the Penn State running back broke loose for a 46-yard touchdown with 2:44 remaining in the first half.
The scoring run gave Wallace 48 yards on three carries and provided another explosive play for a Penn State offense that had already received significant contributions from Carson Hansen.
Hansen handled the early work, delivering a 20-yard rush and a 12-yard touchdown run. Wallace, meanwhile, had little production to show before turning his third attempt into his longest touchdown run since the season’s opening month.
It was a reminder of the explosiveness Wallace displayed a week earlier against Purdue.
In his first career start, Wallace rushed for a career-high 135 yards on 22 carries, scored a touchdown and added a 48-yard run. His performance helped Penn State snap a four-game losing streak with a 31-17 victory.
Hansen contributed 96 yards and a touchdown against the Boilermakers, giving the Nittany Lions a productive combination entering their trip to Seattle.
That combination delivered again in the first half against Washington, even with a different distribution of opportunities.
Wallace’s touchdown also added to a season that already included a 59-yard scoring run against Buffalo and a 6-yard touchdown against Marshall.
His latest score was his fourth rushing touchdown of the season and his second in as many games.
For Wallace and Hansen, they ended the first half with a combined 107 yards in the first half and two rushing touchdowns. Both are poised to both get over the century mark in the second half.
The last time two Penn State running backs each got over 100-yards in a single game was in the 2024 Big Ten Championship against Oregon when both Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen achieved that feat.Â
After a quiet beginning, Wallace needed only one carry to become part of Penn State’s scoring surge.
