University Park— Penn State coach Matt Campbell has suffered his first loss.

The fans are not too happy about it.

Penn State was a 9.5-point favorite at home, and jumped out to a 17-0 lead.

For reasons that we may never fully understand, Wisconsin scored 24 of the game’s last 27 points to win, 24-20.

Penn State is now 0-1 in the Big Ten and has lost four games at Beaver Stadium dating back to the start of 2025.

Here’s what Twitter had to say.

Pain. Anger. Frustration.

Why exactly was Rocco brought here?

— Joseph Ruscavage (@jruscavage) September 27, 2026

Abysmal performance by the offense

— Lucas Powers (@powers_71) September 27, 2026

I’m all for booing. Sports are entertainment & that was not entertaining.

That was not a good performance.

We played/coached like shit 💩 💩

— JPLions (@Jplions4) September 27, 2026

Too careful, lack of talent, way in over his head. Bill O’Brien was the last great hire. Thx Pat Kraft… you need to go also.

The good thing about Penn State Football sucking is that I get time back to build my agentic empire instead of fantasizing about the playoffs.

— Farzad 🇺🇸 🇮🇷 (@farzyness) September 27, 2026

Get used to it Penn State fans. Mad a massive mistake with the HC change

— Rick Saratoga (@toga_party_) September 27, 2026

Everyone who wanted Franklin fired, this has been one of the worst coaching performances I’ve ever seen

— Overtime Penn State (@OTPennState) September 27, 2026

Are you guys going to call for Campbell’s head and get him fired mid season

— jonbuttz (@realJonButtz) September 27, 2026

No, we will wait 10 years, then do it.🤣

— MidwestPalmetto (@MidwestPalmetto) September 27, 2026

In fact, yes

— TommyJawns (@TommyJawns59) September 27, 2026

Offense was extremely embarrassing and putrid. Wow 🤯

— WeAreAthletics🦁 (@WeAreRecruit) September 27, 2026

Rocco truthers were right. He’s mid

— getTZAshorTy (@get_tz) September 27, 2026

Our expectations were low but holy fuck

— Blue and White (@BlueWhiteSports) September 27, 2026

Matt Campbell hot seat. When you call a game with that much fragility. Every play call was cowardice. How can we find a coach that is willing to play to win? It’s like we have James Franklin Jr. atrocious from the entire staff. Embarrassing. PLAY TO WIN. Just flat garbage.

— USACFC (@USACFC_) September 27, 2026

Not surprising. Basically Iowa State disguised as Penn State.

— CjStark 🌵 (@CjStarkk) September 27, 2026

Usually when we lose it’s like, “give credit to the other team” etc.

Not tonight. Wisconsin blows. They gave us the game on the platter. 3 INTs. Penalties. Hapless offense.

We found a way to blow more. Quite impressive.
