Tyler Warren broke multiple Penn State tight end records and is continuing his success in the NFL.
During the Indianapolis Colts’ 48-27 loss to the San Francisco 49ers Monday night, Warren set a new record for the most receiving yards by a tight end in Colts franchise history.
Warren has been arguably the best rookie offensive weapon in football. In 15 games (10 starts), Warren owns 66 catches for 748 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 50 yards per game.
Warren is second among rookies in receptions behind Harold Fannin Jr. (70) and third in receiving yards, trailing only Tet McMillan (924) and Emeka Egbuka (910). He was selected 14th overall and was the second tight end taken after Michigan’s Colston Loveland went to Chicago (10th).
Warren passed Hall of Famer John Mackey (726), a familiar name linked to Warren’s past. He won the 2024 Mackey Award as the nation’s top tight end in 2024 at Penn State.
The Penn State great ranks first all-time in total touchdowns by a Penn State tight end (25), receptions (153), receiving yards (1,839), and receiving touchdowns (19). Six of Warren’s 25 touchdowns were rushing TDs, and he also threw one during his senior season.
The converted quarterback finished his Penn State career tied for fourth in both receptions by a Penn State tight end (153) and receiving touchdowns for a program decorated with accomplished tight ends like Kyle Brady, Mike Gesicki, Brenton Strange, and Pat Freiermuth.
Warren is next in a long line of Penn State tight ends to succeed in the NFL, and he may end up being the best we’ve seen at the position to get it done at the highest level of professional football.
