NEW YORK, NY — Having been born in the Bronx, Penn State receiver Trebor Pena is no stranger to the bright lights or the big city and his game showed that Saturday in a 22-10 win over Clemson.
Pena started his college career at Syracuse before transferring to Penn State ahead of this season and would have been a candidate to opt out of the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl, but instead decided to give it one more game with his teammates.
“Having another chance to play a game, like, that’s special,” Pena said. “You’ve got to take advantage of it … it was a no-brainer for me to play in this game and finish it out the right way with everybody else.”
Take advantage of it is an understatement.
Pena hauled in five catches for 100 yards including a 73-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter to break the game open.

The touchdown was his second of the season and his first since the Villanova game Sept. 13. He finished his one year in Happy Valley with 552 yards in a season that did not feature much downfield passing until late in the campaign.
Despite that, Pena enjoyed his time with Penn State, including his second head coach this season in Terry Smith.
“It’s been amazing,” Pena said. “Terry is somebody that you want to play for. He’s such a good leader. You can tell why everybody rallies around him. He instills that toughness in us and makes us play for something bigger than ourselves. I really respect him and thank him for everything.”
